The eucalyptus tree was originally native to Australasia and is now found worldwide. Eucalyptus oil comes from extracting the oil from the eucalyptus leaves. A real favourite with aromatherapists due to its familiar and recognisable scent. Its aroma is woody, earthy and stimulating.
Aromatherapists often choose this oil to vaporise or add to a bowl of hot water in order to aid and relieve respiratory symptoms such as stuffy noses and coughs. Combine the decongestant qualities with its naturally occurring microbial properties, and you can see why it’s a favourite to get many people through a cough or cold. Trying adding a few drops to a bowl of hot water overnight if you’re suffering with a blocked up nose!
